My late Father-in-law, Tony, served in the Campbellville and Milton communities for 25 years as the owner of his upholstery business, Daphne’s Place.
After the upholstery shop delivered its last piece of furniture and closed in 2020, we decided to renovate the property into the new photography studio.
Daphne’s Place
A 100 year old building that needed some love.
This renovation took over 7 months to complete. Such an amazing process from beginning to end making all the decisions ideal for the perfect studio.
How did this journey all get started?
Shortly after moving to New York City and while our family was settling into a new and exciting adventure for the next few years, I felt something special about the city. This energy isn’t anything new, of course, as many others have pursued their dreams in the Big Apple.
I didn’t want to let this opportunity pass me by. I enrolled in the New York Institute of Photography and unknowingly to me at the time, I was about to embark on a journey eventually leading me to a new destination — Tegan Monaco Photography.
The experience at the New York Institute of Photography was extraordinary. The program provided me with foundational skills across multiple facets of professional photography such as composition and framing, lighting techniques and mastering exposure and focus.
After our family returned to Toronto, my dreams were big and I was excited about starting my own business.
However, the universe had other intentions and sadly, the onset of the pandemic was just around the corner.
Like many others, I was now home with 2 young children and desperately seeking flexibility between starting a new business and caring for my family.
I joined an online Photography Coaching program that brought together a group of photographers experiencing similar challenges. By the conclusion of the program, I had built a website and started booking family and portrait photography sessions leveraging some savvy marketing trends.
The early stages of the journey came with many challenges and without the unwavering support I received from so many, I wouldn’t be here today. And, the rest is history as they say!
