This was a true honour—of capturing a 100th birthday celebration for a beautiful family in Toronto last month! What an incredible milestone!
This was my very first time photographing a centennial birthday in Toronto, with 4 generations in one photograph and it’s a moment I won’t soon forget.
The energy, the legacy, the joy of having four generations under one roof —it was truly moving.
What stood out just as much as the occasion itself was how prepared this family was. They booked their session six months in advance and came with a list of every grouping and moment they wanted to capture. With over 25 family members in attendance from coast to coast, that kind of planning made all the difference.
“There’s something incredibly powerful about seeing multiple generations together in one frame. It’s not just a photo—it’s a visual legacy. Grandparents sitting close to their great grandbabies. Adult siblings standing side by side. Stories passed down without a single word spoken. Generational family photography captures more than faces. It preserves connection and history—all in a moment that becomes priceless with time. These sessions remind us where we come from and celebrate the bonds that last a lifetime.

Seeing the love, laughter, and connection between generations reminded me why I do what I do at Tegan Monaco Photography. Serving the Toronto and Milton community is what I am most proud of in capturing these priceless moments for the families to enjoy for years to come.
1. Plan Ahead: Book early—especially if you have a big group. It gives everyone time to coordinate schedules, and gives me time to help plan the session flow.
You can always check in on my calendar availability using the contact me page! See here 🙂
2. Make a must have photo list: Know what combinations you want photographed ahead of time. It keeps things organized and ensures no important groupings are missed.
3. Choose a Comfortable Location: Whether it’s a home, a park, or a venue, make sure it’s easy to access and has space for both posed shots and candid moments. Depending on how your family is doing, you may want to stay close to home to make it as easy and comfortable. Your own backyard can be the perfect backdrop for it all.
During this recent session, I set up a pop-up studio right in their home to create some timeless, classic portraits. Once we captured those studio-style moments, we moved outside to take advantage of the beautiful natural light for the larger group shots.

If you have a special milestone coming up, I’d love to help you capture it with care and intention.
